Invitation to bid for Imprisco

The best investment opportunities

Established in 1996, the Privatization programme is an integrated part of the economic liberalization policy, which was implemented within overall economic reforms.
Under this policy, the private sector plays a key role as the engine of economic activity.

In this way, the Government of Rwanda decided to withdraw from the agro-industrial, industrial and economic activities, and to provide to the private investors the opportunity to acquire the state-owned companies in view to improve their performance. Aiming at the implementation of the privatization programme, the Presidential decree n0 0/14 of the 3rd May 1996 established three institutions in charge of the privatisation programme, of which the Privatization Secretariat.

The Privatization Secretariat is in charge of the daily management, the coordination of the Commission’s activities and also the implementation of the privatization programme.
In that framework, the Privatization Secretariat created this website in view to achieve one of its missions, which consists in making an educative and public awareness campaign on the privatization programme, by explaining to the public its objectives and advantages and by encouraging the private sector to invest in the privatized enterprises.

During this year 2006, many attractive opportunities occur,  such as Nyabihu and Rubaya   Tea factories  which are in the process of privatization.  We may also mention Nshili-Kivu tea plantation which is in the final stage of privatization. The Government shares within RWANDEX and the Pharmaceutical Laboratory (LABOPHAR) are intended to be privatized. Other smaller units will be also tendered.

Rwandans, local as well as international investors are invited to visit this website. It will be a forum for all those who wish to contribute to the socio-economic development of Rwanda.
